Assistant Maintenance Manager (Mechanical & Refrigeration)

About the role

RIU Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the newly opened RIU Turquoise and RIU Palace Mauritius. This position will help ensure the mechanical and refrigeration systems operate flawlessly, contributing to the high‑standard guest experience the brand is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental obligations related to maintenance activities.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks for contractors and maintenance staff.
• Review, assign, and monitor the weekly maintenance schedule and emergency work orders.
• Oversee the execution of maintenance tasks, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and adherence to corporate policies.
• Maintain accurate equipment histories, work order records, and reporting on tool, material, and labor consumption.
• Develop and deliver training plans for maintenance personnel.
• Provide grievance counseling and promote effective communication between production and maintenance teams.
• Investigate near‑misses and safety incidents, implementing corrective actions.

Required profile

• Experience in hotel or large‑scale facility maintenance, preferably with mechanical and refrigeration systems.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and risk‑identification processes.
• Ability to manage schedules, prioritize emergencies, and coordinate with multiple departments.
• Proven track record of maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.
