Chemist – Fuel Quality Assurance (Diego Garcia)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Chemist to support a critical U.S. Navy fuel program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on laboratory sampling, testing, and quality assurance of bulk fuel to ensure compliance with stringent military standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all laboratory sampling and testing activities for the Diego Garcia fuel supply plan.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-3004, NAVAIR 00-80T-109, TO 42B-1-1, and other regional directives.
• Document and maintain accurate records of fuel sampling and test results.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on fuel quality assurance processes.
• Support development of operating procedures and technical guidance for fuel testing operations.
• Coordinate with program management, leadership, and stakeholders to execute the fuel quality plan.
• Identify and mitigate risks affecting fuel storage, handling, and distribution.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in sampling and testing bulk fuel.
• Working knowledge of fuel testing standards MIL-STD-3004, NAVAIR 00-80T-109, and TO 42B-1-1.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
