Financial Analyst Trainee (Internship)

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding, Freight (DGFF), the Group's air, ocean and road freight specialist, is hiring a Financial Analyst Trainee in Port Louis, Mauritius. The intern supports the Finance team in keeping accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, helping with accounting processes and giving analytical support to management, with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial controlling and cross-functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: reconcile supplier accounts, liaise with Operations and vendors on invoice, purchase order and payment issues, monitor outstanding balances, support month-end closing and keep supplier records documented.
• Accounts Receivable: perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, track customer payments, liaise with the Global Service Centre for remittance information, help resolve payment allocation disputes and support collection and cash application.
• Financial analysis and controlling: assist the CFO with analysis and reporting, support budget monitoring, variance analysis and profitability reviews, prepare reports, dashboards and ad hoc analyses, and identify cost-control opportunities.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work with Operations, Customer Service, Sales and other departments, take part in improvement projects and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Backup and admin: cover selected finance activities during team absences, help with finance administration and reporting, and support audit requests with reconciliations and supporting documents.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and strong attention to detail.
• Proactive, eager to learn, team player with a customer-focused approach, integrity and confidentiality, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines.
