Head of Operations & Medical

About the role

Life Medical Clinic is looking for a Head of Operations & Medical who reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for the clinic, ensuring effective management of clinical and non-clinical operations, safe and high-quality patient care, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards. It covers day-to-day operations and medical governance, resource optimisation, and relationships with medical practitioners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the clinic, including the operating theatre, day hospital, inpatient unit, radiology, consultation rooms and external service providers such as laboratories.
• Act as the clinic's lead medical authority and drive the medical governance framework and its continuous improvement.
• Help identify, recruit and integrate surgeons, specialists, general practitioners and other practitioners, working with the COO and management.
• Contribute to the clinic's strategy, especially its medical strategy, clinical service portfolio and future priorities.
• Share accountability for financial performance through operational management, revenue optimisation and cost control (the Finance Manager holds primary responsibility for accounting, reporting and controls).
• Lead the medical, clinical and operational teams and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) or nursing degree, with current registration and good standing with the Medical Council / Nursing Council of Mauritius.
• At least 10 years of clinical practice and at least 5 years in medical leadership, clinical governance or hospital management.
• Knowledge of Mauritian healthcare legislation, clinical governance, quality standards and accreditation processes.
• Experience in budget management, financial performance monitoring and KPI-driven management.
• Fluency in French and English, written and spoken.
