Head Waiter (Chef de Rang) - Luxury Resort

About the role

Constance Prince Maurice, a 5-star luxury resort on the northeast coast of Mauritius, is hiring an experienced Head Waiter (Chef de Rang) through its partner Hosco. You will lead and inspire the service team and ensure exceptional dining experiences for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of restaurant service, maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
• Lead, train and motivate a team of waiters and support staff, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
• Manage guest relations, addressing queries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
• Implement and maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels, placing orders as necessary.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and give constructive feedback to team members.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel setting.
• Proven track record in a supervisory role within food service.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are highly advantageous.
• Up-to-date food safety and hygiene certifications.
• Experience in the luxury hospitality industry is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail expertise.
• Proficiency in restaurant management software and point-of-sale systems.
• Thorough understanding of fine dining etiquette and protocols.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
