Health and Safety Officer

About the role

SD Worx is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer to lead occupational health and safety initiatives across its operations. You will develop policies, conduct drills, manage investigations, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements while fostering a safe workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures.
• Organise and conduct emergency drills, such as fire drills, and verify equipment functionality.
• Investigate accidents and emergencies, providing detailed reports and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements; deliver training and guidance to staff.
• Maintain records of daily activities, monitor health‑related absences, and keep reference materials up to date.
• Lead Health and Safety committee meetings and liaise with external bodies (MEF, Factory Inspectorate, Fire Services, Ministry of Health and Quality of Life).
• Communicate health and safety information effectively to all employees.
• Manage the First Aid Corner, provide immediate care, maintain stocked first aid kits, and train first aiders for day and night shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the People Manager.

Required profile

• Diploma in Health and Safety from a recognised institution.
• Eligible for registration as a Health and Safety Officer with the Ministry.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar health and safety role.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Willingness to provide a recent Certificate of Character and undergo a background check.
