Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience through impeccable cleanliness and visual standards aboard a cruise ship. This senior leader oversees all housekeeping operations, ensures premium service delivery, and maintains a safe, high‑quality environment for guests and crew.

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall cleanliness and visual impression of all guest areas, ensuring service exceeds expectations.
• Lead, train, and develop housekeeping supervisors and crew, fostering a positive work environment and strong floor presence.
• Ensure compliance with Royal Caribbean’s Safety, Quality, Environmental, SQM, and USPH standards.
• Manage chemical handling, equipment use, and job safety analyses, including proper PPE and heavy‑equipment procedures.
• Assess talent, set performance expectations, and conduct regular coaching and recognition.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate service delivery and resolve guest issues promptly.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years progressive housekeeping managerial experience, preferably in an upscale hotel, resort, or cruise ship.
• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field (preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemical safety, and equipment handling.
• Understanding of talent assessment, quality service standards, guest satisfaction, and HR policies.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, shipboard environment and uphold brand standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience using industry software such as SQM, OCIMS, Fidelio, LGA, Medallia, and Kronos.
• Knowledge of chemical handling procedures and safety analysis.
