Legal Counsel – Group

About the role

Join Ocorian's Group Legal team to provide commercially focused legal guidance across multiple jurisdictions. You will support business growth, client outcomes and governance while working on strategic initiatives and cross‑border projects.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver practical legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, data protection and financial services matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements that align with business objectives.
• Support strategic initiatives, transactions and cross‑border projects across multiple jurisdictions.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and share insights with the business.
• Develop and maintain legal precedents, guidance materials and knowledge resources.

Required profile

• Qualified Barrister in Mauritius and called to the Bar in the UK.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience, including at least 3 years in an in‑house legal role.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear business advice.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of trust, corporate, commercial, fund and financial services law.
• Extensive experience drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts.
• Understanding of applicable legislation, regulatory frameworks and industry best practices for financial services.
