Payment and Transaction Analyst

About the role

MAGMA, a fintech company based in Mauritius that provides payment solutions to clients worldwide, is looking for a Payment and Transaction Analyst. The role sits at the heart of financial operations, ensuring secure transactions, robust compliance and seamless client experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in onboarding new clients and matters, keeping details correct under regulatory standards and AML/CFT policies
• Carry out due diligence on new and existing clients, review KYC documentation and run AML and sanctions searches, escalating issues to the Senior Compliance Analyst and Chief Compliance Officer
• Review changes to client information that affect client or matter risk, and keep client information accurate and up to date
• Scrutinize and authorize payments against invoices and internal policies, approve or reject payment requests, and ensure payment activities follow internal controls and AML/CFT guidelines
• Help the Compliance Team create, review and update compliance reports, and take part in quarterly audits
• Handle administrative tasks and special projects, and assist senior officers with risk assessments, AML/CFT queries and liaison with local authorities such as the FSC
• Conduct testing and client reviews (including CDD review) based on risk assessment, and carry out ad hoc tasks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Administration, Business or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial services
• Familiarity with client onboarding and compliance regulations related to transaction monitoring
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
