Disbursement Account Assistant

About the role

Inchcape Shipping Services is hiring a Disbursement Account Assistant in Port Louis, Mauritius, to support the day-to-day finance function across accounts receivable and payable. The role covers invoicing, debt collection, supplier payments, reconciliations and financial record keeping, and supports compliance, financial reporting and operational teams. The position is permanent and on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage debt collection, customer statements and outstanding payments.
• Ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing in line with approved tariffs and credit terms.
• Allocate receipts and advance payments and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare final disbursement accounts and coordinate invoice processing for port calls.
• Coordinate with Operations and liaise with the Service Center for the AP/AR process.
• Process and reconcile supplier invoices, statements and payments.
• Maintain debtor, creditor and intercompany accounts and resolve outstanding balances.
• Complete monthly VAT reconciliations and ensure accurate VAT entries.
• Support vendor onboarding, KYC and Dow Jones compliance checks.
• Monitor renewals of insurance, licences and bank guarantees.
• Support operational teams with finance and system-related queries and carry out other duties as required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Finance or ACCA level 1.
• HSC level with Accounting as a main subject desirable.
• Knowledge of the statutory law (VAT Act / Finance Act).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn new software applications.
