Property Accountant (US Property Portfolio)

About the role

We are a boutique accountancy and consulting firm supporting a large private‑equity real‑estate investment manager. The Property Accountant will own the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of 5‑8 US‑based properties, reporting to the Director and collaborating closely with US finance controllers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for each property and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Post and maintain accrual and pre‑payment schedules, ensuring accurate P&L periodisation.
• Own the general ledger for the assigned portfolio in Yardi, including chart‑of‑accounts mapping.
• Execute month‑end close activities: journal entries, account reconciliations and checklist sign‑off.
• Prepare property‑level financial statements, balance sheets, P&L and cash‑flow schedules.
• Develop budget‑to‑actual and period‑over‑period variance commentary.
• Lead monthly review meetings with Mauritius and US stakeholders, presenting results and analysis.
• Liaise with property managers, vendors and US counterparts on transactional and reporting matters.
• Support year‑end close and external audit processes.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred.
