Assistant Manager – Collections and Recovery

About the role

The Bank is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to strengthen its Collections & Recovery Department. You will help reduce non‑performing loans and credit losses by monitoring delinquent accounts, driving recovery actions, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor submission timelines and oversee complex cases, including litigation.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and audit trails for all recovery activities.
• Develop and execute tailored recovery strategies (restructuring, rescheduling, settlements) to maximise cash collections.
• Coordinate with Legal, Credit, Risk, and external recovery agents to ensure timely case progression.
• Participate in credit committees, hand‑over processes, and regular meetings with legal administrators.
• Manage large non‑performing assets (NPAs) and provide performance updates to senior management.
• Ensure fair treatment of customers, resolve complaints, and deliver high‑quality service.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of recovery processes, controls, and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in collections, recovery, or credit risk with exposure to NPL management.
• Knowledge of Bank of Mauritius guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
