Compliance Assistant

About the role

Trident Trust, an independent provider of corporate, trust and fund services to the financial services sector, is hiring a Compliance Assistant in Mauritius. The role assists the Compliance Officer and the Compliance Executive in ensuring compliance with the Act and Regulations, overseeing the day-to-day anti-money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing programme, reporting to the Board and senior management, and helping design and maintain internal compliance manuals, policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Ongoing monitoring: file reviews, transaction monitoring and updating trackers for compliance and non-compliance reporting
• Maintain and update registers such as training and PEP registers
• Review due diligence documents and screen clients, giving guidance on hits and alerts from one-off and ongoing screenings
• Check updates in compliance and AML laws on sources such as FSC, MRA, ROC and FATF
• Draft compliance reports following adverse media and letters notifying the FSC
• Review onboarding documents, assess client risks at onboarding and reassess them on anniversary or trigger events
• Carry out assurance testing, including transaction monitoring, introducer testing and reliance on third-party testing
• Handle CDD and compliance queries promptly and perform ad-hoc compliance tasks

Required profile

• At least a degree in the relevant field or partial ACCA / ICSA qualification
• 1-3 years of experience in the global business sector, compliance or related fields
• Sound knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework
• High accuracy and attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to work under tight deadlines

Required skills

• Well-versed in Microsoft Office tools
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills
