Financial Accountant

About the role

United Exports is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Finance team in Mauritius, supporting multiple international entities across Mauritius, the United Kingdom and Australia. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role takes ownership of the full financial accounting function, contributes to strategic decisions and leads a Finance Officer.

Key responsibilities

• General ledger, monthly/quarterly/annual management accounts, variance analysis, trading profitability and gross margin reviews, and management reporting packs for executives and the board
• Balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset register maintenance, and budgeting and cash flow forecasting
• Tax and statutory submissions (VAT, GST, BAS, Plastic Tax), liaison with tax authorities, IFRS for SMEs compliance and audit support
• Internal controls, approval of payments and journals, foreign currency transactions and revaluations, and shared services cost allocations
• Leading, coaching and developing a Finance Officer

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• At least 5 years' experience as a Financial Accountant
• Experience with multiple foreign currencies; agriculture industry experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong ERP experience, preferably NetSuite
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
• Attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication and leadership skills
