Financial Crime Operations Team Leader

About the role

Absa Group Limited is seeking a Financial Crime Operations Team Leader to drive the execution of financial crime risk initiatives across its African operations. The role will ensure the Financial Crime Risk Management Framework aligns with group policies, local regulations, and reputational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coach, mentor and manage a team of financial crime professionals to meet business objectives.
• Plan and allocate team capacity to meet service level agreements and operational targets.
• Supervise the execution of priorities, ensuring operational excellence and customer outcomes.
• Guarantee compliance with all relevant control, risk, and quality standards.
• Perform administrative duties such as tracking performance metrics and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial crime risk management within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of group policies, local legislation, and regulatory requirements related to financial crime.
• Ability to collaborate with second‑line defence on Customer Due Diligence systems and controls.
• Demonstrated capability to design and maintain an effective control environment.
