Handyman - Luxury Resort

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort in Plaine Magnien on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is hiring a handyman through its partner Hosco. The role covers maintenance and minor repairs across the hotel, villas, golf course and quarters, while ensuring compliance with the Occupational Safety & Health Act, local health and safety codes and the company's safety and security policy.

Key responsibilities

• Follow safe work practices, check the work logbook and inform the Maintenance Manager Assistants of the tools and equipment needed.
• Verify work before entering rooms and carry out repairs as instructed by the Maintenance Assistant Managers.
• Repair wooden furniture: replace damaged wood, glue partitions, scrape and polish, fix legs and re-varnish.
• Repair doors and windows: polish, detach, adjust and plane pommels, fix hinges and apply grease.
• Plumbing: change taps and fittings, repair toilet handles and tank parts, unplug sinks and toilets, clear blocked pipes.
• Masonry: rough-cast wall cracks, re-fix tiles and lay pathway bricks.
• Painting: retouch paint, mix colours and varnish wooden furniture.
• Cleaning: clean roofs according to plan and clean drains on request.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the hotel industry; proven experience in top luxury resorts is a plus.
• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the relevant field are a plus.
• Fluent English or another language, written and spoken; knowledge of a second language is a plus.

Required skills

• Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
• Ability to work with hand tools and power equipment.
• Extremely organised, detail-oriented, good problem-solving skills.
