Import & Purchasing Officer

About the role

Medine Limited – Earth & Ocean is looking for an Import & Purchasing Officer to coordinate purchasing and import activities. The role covers order placement, supplier follow-up, permit processing, customs clearance and delivery, ensuring compliance with regulations and working with suppliers, authorities, freight forwarders and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate import permits, licenses and related documentation, and liaise with government authorities on permits, approvals, inspections and clearances.
• Ensure timely renewal of permits and compliance with import regulations, and keep all import and customs documentation complete and accurate.
• Work with customs brokers, clearing agents, freight forwarders and other logistics partners, and monitor shipments from booking to warehouse delivery.
• Follow up on customs queries, inspections, delays and clearance issues, and maintain records and trackers for permits, shipments and clearance status.
• File and archive import and procurement documents, and report regularly to the Procurement Manager.

Required profile

• Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Customs, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in procurement, imports, logistics or supply chain.
• Experience in import documentation and customs clearance, and liaising with suppliers, freight forwarders and government authorities, is an advantage.
• Knowledge of local import procedures and regulations is preferred.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of import and customs procedures and of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem-solving, follow-up, communication and interpersonal skills.
