Junior SQL Developer

About the role

Dataxis is seeking a Junior SQL Developer to join its research team in Mauritius. This position offers hands‑on experience with large datasets across TV, telecom, technology, and media sectors, ideal for someone starting a career in data analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Write, optimise, and maintain SQL queries for research and analytics projects.
• Assist in managing and maintaining relational databases.
• Support data extraction, transformation, and validation processes.
• Collaborate with analysts and researchers to understand data requirements.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
• Contribute to improving database performance and efficiency.
• Participate in documentation and reporting activities.
• Help troubleshoot and debug database‑related issues.

Required profile

• Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
• Understanding of data modelling and normalisation principles.
• Familiarity with MySQL or other relational database systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyse and interpret structured data.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field; internship or academic project experience with databases is a plus.
