Payroll and HR Lead

About the role

As the Payroll and HR Lead for Africa Specialty Risks, you will join a global HR team and take ownership of payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee relations for our offices in Mauritius and South Africa. You will ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery and support the broader HR function across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process monthly payrolls for all ASR offices, maintaining accurate records and HRIS data.
• Administer employee benefits, including medical insurance, pension schemes, risk benefits, and welfare programs, and act as the primary liaison with external providers.
• Maintain confidential employee files, support audits, and handle payroll, leave, and benefits queries.
• Lead employee‑relations matters such as performance improvement plans, probation extensions, and dismissals in Mauritius and South Africa.
• Produce monthly attendance reports and flag attendance issues to managers.
• Assist the HR Director with benefits renewal, HR projects, and employee‑engagement initiatives.
• Support HR documentation, handbook maintenance, and HRIS data extraction.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR payroll and administration.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
