Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will ensure the accuracy and integrity of Spoon Consulting's financial records, support statutory and regulatory compliance, and provide reliable financial information to management. The role requires a structured, analytical professional who can own financial processes from transaction through to reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and review day‑to‑day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank transactions.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing processes and ensure deadlines are met.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, supporting schedules and financial reports for management decision‑making.
• Perform bank, balance‑sheet and inter‑company reconciliations and monitor cash flow, receivables and payables.
• Ensure accurate recording of accruals, pre‑payments, provisions and fixed assets, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Coordinate VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions and liaise with external auditors.
• Review accounting processes, recommend improvements and maintain a strong audit trail.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; ACCA qualification or progression is an advantage.
• At least 6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a structured corporate or professional‑services environment.
• Strong knowledge of Mauritian accounting, taxation and statutory requirements.
• Proven experience in month‑end closing, management accounts, reconciliations and financial reporting.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
• Experience preparing audit schedules and financial reports.
