Assistant Housekeeping Executive

About the role

Veranda Tamarin is looking for an Assistant Housekeeping Executive to support the Head Housekeeper in planning, organizing and overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department. The role ensures that all activities are carried out according to established standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Housekeeper in supervising and coordinating daily housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry and back-of-house.
• Conduct regular on-the-job training, ensure proper induction of new recruits and support team development.
• Monitor team discipline, attendance, grooming and performance, reporting issues to HR or superiors as needed.
• Participate in recruitment, appraisals and identifying training needs within the department.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, respond promptly to guest complaints and feedback, and promote a welcoming and professional image.
• Manage inventories of linen, uniforms and equipment, ensuring cost control and adherence to departmental budgets.
• Prepare and submit daily housekeeping reports and ensure clear communication within the team.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality standards, safety and hygiene regulations and sustainability practices, and notify the Sustainable Development Department of environmental and social impacts.

Required profile

• HSC or equivalent; SC with relevant professional training and experience may also be considered.
• Diploma in Housekeeping or a related field from a recognized institution (e.g. NC4 certification).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in hotels or resorts, including experience as a Floor Supervisor.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and French; knowledge of a third language is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in hotel management systems such as Opera, Micros and WINHMS.
• Computer literacy with good knowledge of standard office applications.
