Chief Risk Officer (CRO) – Banking Risk Management

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Risk Officer to lead the risk function of a newly‑established bank in Mauritius that will focus on foreign‑currency services for international clients. The CRO will shape the enterprise risk strategy, report directly to the Board Risk Monitoring Committee and ensure the bank meets all regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework across all risk categories.
• Oversee credit policy, portfolio monitoring, non‑performing loan management and large‑exposure compliance.
• Monitor foreign‑exchange positions, interest‑rate risk in the banking book, and manage liquidity metrics such as LCR and NSFR through the ALCO.
• Coordinate ICAAP, conduct stress testing and perform Pillar 2 capital assessments.
• Provide independent risk reporting directly to the Board Risk Monitoring Committee.

Required profile

• 15+ years of enterprise risk management experience covering Basel III, credit, market and liquidity risk.
• 10+ years of banking finance experience, including IFRS and Bank of Mauritius prudential reporting.
• Qualified accountant (CA, CPA or ACCA).
• Proven ability to lead risk functions in a banking environment.
