Finance Officer

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Finance Officer to support the day‑to‑day financial operations of our offshore law‑firm. In this role you will ensure accurate accounting records, timely transaction processing and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable end‑to‑end, including invoice verification, payment runs and maintaining creditor and debtor balances.
• Maintain the cashbook by posting and allocating daily transactions and promptly resolving unreconciled items.
• Prepare and post accounting journals such as accruals, pre‑payments and other adjustments with appropriate support and approvals.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist with balance‑sheet reconciliations and period‑end close activities.
• Prepare routine finance reports (aged balances, cash positions, expense summaries) with clear commentary on variances.
• Maintain accurate finance records, including fixed‑asset registers, in line with audit requirements.
• Support statutory, tax and audit processes by providing schedules, reconciliations and source data.
• Respond to supplier and internal queries, helping resolve payment or invoice issues.
• Contribute to strong internal controls and identify opportunities to improve finance processes and systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations, including payables, receivables and bank reconciliations.
• Practical working knowledge of financial systems and general‑ledger accounting.
• Ability to prepare accurate reconciliations, journals and supporting documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to timely financial records.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and internal controls.
