Head of Systems

About the role

The Head of Systems will own CC Moneybase’s entire infrastructure portfolio, spanning Microsoft Azure, on‑premises VMware, networking and corporate IT. This senior leader combines strategic direction with hands‑on problem solving, guiding a team of engineers to deliver reliable, secure and cost‑effective services.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the infrastructure roadmap, balancing modernisation, automation, resilience and cost, in agreement with the CEO.
• Manage the infrastructure budget, licences and vendor relationships, ensuring efficient spend.
• Lead, coach and develop the IT Systems Manager and two systems engineers, closing skills gaps and fostering ownership.
• Oversee Azure estate (VMs, networking, storage, Entra ID, governance) and drive monthly cost optimisation.
• Run VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter, handling VM lifecycle, performance, patching and upgrades.
• Maintain and harden Linux servers across cloud and on‑premises, including performance tuning.
• Set standards for corporate IT, end‑user computing, identity and access management using Microsoft Intune, 365 and Entra ID.
• Ensure infrastructure availability, backup and disaster recovery, delivering evidence for risk and compliance.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible or equivalents and automate routine tasks.
• Evaluate AI‑driven security and monitoring tools, integrating them with SIEM, EDR and anomaly detection platforms.

Required profile

• 8+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering, with at least 3 years leading a team.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, governance, cost management).
• Proven expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter in production environments.
• Solid Linux administration skills and working knowledge of Windows Server.
• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate or comparable next‑generation firewalls and high‑availability load balancers.
• Practical implementation of Infrastructure as Code in production.
• Experience managing corporate IT services, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365 and identity lifecycle processes.
