HVAC Technician

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for an HVAC Technician. The role covers repairs and maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, preventive maintenance and welding, and works alongside the Assistant Chief Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain all systems and equipment for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and advise on improvements to existing mechanical systems
• Carry out the preventive maintenance programme
• Perform electric arc welding, argon gas welding and oxy-acetylene welding, and minor fabrication and metal work when needed
• Help the Assistant Chief Engineer prepare spare lists for mechanical equipment and give information to the supervisor on stock control and ordering of materials and spare parts
• Handle guestroom maintenance requests when instructed, and perform shift duties when assigned
• Take part in meetings and training sessions, and cooperate with the Engineering Department, resort contractors and other departments
• Act as a member of the Fire Brigade Team when assigned
• Keep the workshop and related areas safe, clean and hygienic, ensure issued hand tools are in good working order, and record daily work on the daily work summary
• Comply with safety, fire and hygiene policy, departmental standards and procedures, and take part in the resort's energy conservation programme

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the field are a plus
• At least 1 year of experience in the hotel industry
• Proven experience in a top luxury resort is a plus
• Fluency in English or another language, written and verbal
