Junior Accountant (French Accounting)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in Grand Baie, Mauritius. The role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting month‑end close, and ensuring compliance with French tax obligations for our French‑based clients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and record all accounting transactions accurately.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor subsidiary accounts.
• Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and submit French tax filings, including VAT returns and statutory declarations.
• Review accounting entries, identify discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with French accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Respond to client queries on accounting and tax matters.
• Monitor changes in French accounting and tax legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and French tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of French tax framework, especially VAT and corporate income tax.
• Experience working with French clients or within a French accounting environment is an advantage.
• Fluent in French with a good command of English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage.
• Experience using Cegid or equivalent ERP/accounting systems.
