Barista

About the role

A coffee shop in Trianon, Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius is looking for a barista to prepare hot and cold drinks such as espressos, lattes, smoothies and mocktails, serve food like toasties and pastries, handle customer orders and POS transactions, and keep the station clean and well-stocked. The position suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and great customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and specialty drinks, paying attention to blend, dairy and sugar preferences, and operate coffee machines safely and efficiently
• Serve prepared food such as toasties, paninis and pastries, following recipes
• Make mocktails, smoothies and milkshakes
• Provide friendly, professional customer service, handle complaints and upsell menu items and seasonal offers
• Process payments by cash register or POS system
• Maintain hygiene and safety while operating equipment, keep the workspace clean and organised, and keep stock of coffee beans, milk and syrups at proper levels
• Follow company health, safety and cleanliness policies and cooperate with other team members

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of work experience in retail
• Matriculation or diploma
• Recent SAPS clearance
• Valid medical certificate
