Group Financial Controller

About the role

Hawksford is looking for a Group Financial Controller based in Moka, Mauritius. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective financial control and high-quality management information, while providing strong governance and business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close, review management accounts, journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany balances and balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
• Produce and review monthly management information, and support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning and liquidity management.
• Analyse financial and operational performance, identify trends, risks and opportunities, and act as a trusted finance partner to local directors and management.
• Maintain internal controls, segregation of duties and approval controls, and escalate material risks.
• Coordinate local support for internal and external audit, and tax, VAT and other statutory obligations.
• Oversight of cash flow forecasting, funding, banking, reconciliations, payment controls, billing, revenue, aged debt, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll.
• Identify opportunities to standardise, simplify and automate finance activities, and lead local finance operations through change.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience in financial services, professional services, corporate services or another regulated environment.
• Experience across multiple legal entities or jurisdictions, and with Group Finance and Shared Services.
• Month-end close, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting experience; audit and statutory reporting support.
• Intercompany and cross-border accounting, finance transformation or systems implementation exposure.

• Strong technical accounting, balance sheet management and analytical skills.
• Excel and financial systems.
• Confident communication with senior stakeholders and ability to manage competing deadlines.
