Head of Digital Assets and Emerging Technologies

About the role

The Head of Digital Assets and Emerging Technologies will lead the bank’s AI Centre of Excellence and a newly created Digital Assets team. Reporting to the Chief Customer Experience Officer, you will shape strategy, drive execution, and ensure regulatory compliance across AI, blockchain, stablecoins and tokenisation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and continuously evolve the Emerging Technologies strategy and a three‑year execution roadmap aligned with enterprise priorities and risk appetite.
• Build and manage an innovation pipeline: identify use cases, develop business cases, prioritize, and scale solutions across business lines.
• Provide strategic direction to the AI team, embed responsible AI principles, and expand AI capabilities into high‑value domains.
• Lead the Digital Assets agenda, including product development, custody solutions, tokenisation, stablecoin propositions, and ecosystem partner selection.
• Monitor market and regulatory developments, translating them into actionable roadmap decisions.
• Embed governance, risk, compliance and regulatory engagement frameworks across the portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in digital transformation, AI or blockchain within a financial institution.
• Strong understanding of regulatory environments for AI and digital assets in Africa and international markets.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence board members, regulators and senior executives.
• Strategic thinker with a hands‑on execution mindset.
