Head of Global Markets

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Global Markets to lead our Treasury department. This senior position will oversee all treasury operations, including product structuring, sales, and trading activities, while driving financial performance across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Generate sales by designing and structuring a full suite of treasury products for customers.
• Formulate and execute trading strategies, guiding the trading team to meet targets.
• Develop and implement financial risk‑management strategies for interest‑rate, currency, and credit exposures.
• Evaluate and recommend capital‑structure optimisations, managing relationships with banks, investors and other institutions.
• Partner with lines of business to structure complex on‑shore and off‑shore trades.
• Create, maintain and enforce treasury policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare regular reports on treasury activity, performance and market trends for senior management and the board.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting and operations teams to support business objectives.
• Lead, mentor and develop the treasury team.
• Leverage technology and financial systems to enhance cash management and analytical capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field; master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., ACI Diploma, CTP, CFA) preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of treasury management experience, including at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of treasury operations, financial markets and risk management, with a proven track record in structuring deals, hedging and trading.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Deep understanding of the African market.
