IFS Accountant - Fiduciary Reporting

About the role

Standard Bank Offshore, the offshore arm of the Standard Bank Group, is looking for an IFS Accountant to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of fiduciary clients, including complex and high-value structures. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, maintains precise accounting records and supports management and audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review trust and company accounts for a portfolio of fiduciary clients
• Produce financial statements, interim reports and meaningful account commentary
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure data integrity across financial systems
• Manage accounting transactions and reconciliations to support accurate financial reporting
• Handle tax-related matters in line with legislative and regulatory requirements
• Support and mentor junior team members, promote quality and best practice
• Identify and escalate risks, compliance concerns and process improvement opportunities
• Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external intermediaries to deliver excellent client service

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
• Relevant professional accounting qualification or international accounting certification; postgraduate qualification advantageous
• 5-7 years' experience, ideally within trust, fiduciary or financial services environments
• Experience preparing financial statements and working within regulatory frameworks

Required skills

• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, bookkeeping, reconciliations and financial controls
• Knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS and accounting best practices
• Understanding of GAAP
