Kitchen Helper / Driver

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury hotel on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for a Kitchen Helper who also drives the food truck. The role supports chefs in food preparation and cleaning, and involves collecting food from the back of house to the main kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruits, and assist in preparing ingredients for cooking and food service.
• Portion and arrange food items, and support chefs during meal preparation and service.
• Drive the food truck to the back of house to collect food items and bring them to the main kitchen.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment, and clean and sanitize work surfaces, floors, storage areas and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards, and dispose of waste and recyclables properly.
• Receive and store food supplies, organize storage areas, report shortages, damage or expiry, and assist with inventory checks.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations, company policies and procedures, and cooperate with kitchen staff.

Required profile

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team; good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and good physical stamina, able to stand for long periods.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Food handlers certificate is mandatory.
• Driving licence is mandatory.
