Room Technician

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for a Room Technician. The role looks after guest safety and responds quickly to guest issues, carries out preventive maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, and works under the direction of the Chief Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Look after guest safety and respond quickly to guest issues so guests are satisfied with the work done.
• Complete preventive maintenance activities according to the hotel's schedule.
• Care for the tools supplied by the hotel, maintain and return them after each shift.
• Perform engineering work in guest rooms: plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, electrical equipment, lighting fittings, sockets and air conditioning systems.
• Test, troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs on guest room equipment, and attend to guest repair requests.
• Follow oral and written instructions, clean work areas after finishing tasks, and follow all safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the Shift Leader and carry out other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer.
• Take part in the hotel's energy conservation programmes, use or recommend environmentally friendly products, and suggest cost-saving ideas.

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the field are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in the hotel industry; proven experience in a top luxury resort is a plus.
• Fluency in English or another language, written and spoken.

• Knowledge of equipment operation and the job.
• Ability to find faults and fix subsystems.
• Ability to work in a fast environment and adapt to unpredictable events.
