Waiter / Waitress

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for a waiter or waitress. The role covers table setting, serving guests and supporting the outlet manager's assistants, in a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mise en place before each service and keep the outlet, service station and back area clean.
• Set up tables, pick up requisitions from the storeroom and set up display or buffet counters with plates and cutlery.
• Carry food and beverages from the kitchen or bar to the service area and collect soiled dishes for the dishwashing area.
• Serve guests according to the set standards and procedures, assist the hostess in seating guests and assist the Chef de Rang.
• Know the menu, chef's specials, buffet items and beverage list by heart, answer guest queries and refer complaints or suggestions to the Outlet Manager or his assistants.
• Send silverware to the stewarding department as assigned and perform other duties given by superiors.

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the field are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in the hotel industry on a similar position, including training.
• Proven experience in a top luxury resort is a plus.
• Fluency in English or another language, written and spoken; knowledge of a second language is a plus.

Required skills

• Multi-tasking and ability to work well in fast-paced environments.
• Team spirit, active listening and effective communication.
• Hands-on experience with a cash register and an ordering information system.
