About the role

The Deli Cook prepares a wide variety of fresh, ready-to-eat meals, salads and sides that meet customer preferences and seasonal offerings. The cook collaborates on menu planning, supervises kitchen helpers and ensures every dish meets high standards of taste, quality and presentation. The position is based in Trianon, Quatre-Bornes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold meals, including salads, sandwiches, entrées and sides, maintaining high standards of quality, presentation and taste.
• Create and update menus with the Head Cook based on customer preferences, seasonal ingredients and sales trends, and introduce new ready-to-eat meals.
• Collaborate with marketing and retail teams to highlight new items and promotions.
• Supervise, train and manage kitchen helpers, ensuring they follow proper cooking techniques and safety procedures, and foster a positive kitchen team.
• Manage ingredient stock levels, monitor incoming product quality and storage, reduce waste and keep the kitchen clean and compliant with health and food safety regulations.
• Keep hot food sections well-stocked and visually appealing, respond to customer requests and feedback, and help organise tastings, promotions and events.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of work experience in retail.
• Minimum matric/diploma.
• A recent SAPS clearance.
• A valid medical certificate.
