Finance Manager (Shipping & Agency Operations)

About the role

The Finance Manager will lead the finance and accounts function for a shipping and agency operations entity, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and timely business support. Reporting to the General Manager, the role works closely with regional finance heads, auditors, banks, customers, vendors, and business principals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the finance and accounts team, both onsite and offsite.
• Maintain books of accounts in line with statutory requirements, IFRS, and internal SOPs.
• Coordinate statutory audits and finalize financial statements without qualifications.
• Control revenue, billing, collections, and credit‑period compliance.
• Monitor overdue receivables and escalate credit breaches.
• Ensure compliance with agency agreements and submit reports to principals.
• Process vendor payments, including port and statutory authorities.
• Review and strengthen finance SOPs, develop new procedures as needed.
• Coordinate payroll and maintain employee records with HR.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, liquidity, and surplus fund deployment.
• Maintain banking relationships and ensure KYC compliance.
• Lead budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and prepare management reports, board presentations, and performance updates.

Required profile

• Qualified CA, CPA, ACCA, or MBA in Finance.
• 15+ years of finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a Finance Manager or Accounts Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial‑reporting principles.
• Understanding of direct and indirect taxation; exposure to international tax and transfer pricing is a plus.
• Experience coordinating statutory audits and finalizing annual financial statements.
• Background in shipping, logistics, liner, or agency industry is advantageous.
