Financial Controller - Luxury Hotel

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury hotel in Plaine Magnien on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is hiring a Financial Controller through its partner Hosco. The role covers the integrity and accuracy of financial records, the management of the Finance Department and the oversight of financial reporting, budgeting and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Certify the accuracy of the General Ledger and statutory financial statements, and ensure compliance with local legislation, accounting standards and taxation requirements.
• Coordinate and manage internal and external financial audits, and oversee compliance and regulatory documents.
• Ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing, review and approve monthly financial reports, and monitor cash flow, banking and treasury functions.
• Oversee budget preparation, forecasting and financial planning, and analyse financial performance to recommend improvements.
• Manage the day-to-day running of the Finance Department, recruit, train and evaluate finance staff, and set departmental objectives.
• Act as liaison between the hotel, auditors, banks, tax authorities and corporate finance teams, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent highly preferred; MBA an advantage.
• Minimum 3-5 years in a senior finance management position, preferably in hospitality.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, audits, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems and ERP software.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and hospitality financial operations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software.
• Knowledge of local tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Analytical, leadership and communication skills, with ability to work under pressure.
