Head of Fixed Income

About the role

The Head of Fixed Income will lead MCB Capital Markets’ fixed income business, shaping strategy and product development across local, regional and international markets. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for driving portfolio performance, building client relationships and positioning the firm as a leading manager of African debt securities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the fixed income investment strategy for local, regional and global markets.
• Oversee development and growth of fixed income products, including mutual funds, ETFs and institutional mandates.
• Deliver superior risk‑adjusted performance across all fixed income portfolios.
• Lead the African fixed income capability, identifying opportunities and strengthening market position.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with institutional investors and key market participants.
• Enhance credit research and risk‑management frameworks.
• Represent MCB Capital Markets as a thought leader in Mauritius, Africa and internationally.
• Recruit, mentor and manage a high‑performing investment team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, investment guidelines and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, applied mathematics or a related quantitative field.
• Advanced degree (Master’s) or professional qualification such as CFA is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in investment management, asset management or related fields.
• Proven track record of leading fixed income teams and delivering strong investment results.
