Head of Trading

About the role

The Head of Trading will lead the treasury trading function across multiple asset classes, driving strategy, risk management and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Generate sales by delivering a full array of treasury solutions to the bank’s customers.
• Develop and execute trading strategies for various asset classes and guide the trading team to achieve them.
• Structure and implement financial risk‑management policies, including stop‑losses, interest‑rate, currency and credit risk controls.
• Evaluate and recommend strategies to optimise the company’s capital structure, managing debt and equity financing options and relationships with banks and investors.
• Partner with lines of business to cross‑sell competitive rates on‑shore and off‑shore.
• Develop, implement and maintain treasury policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and best‑practice standards.
• Prepare and present regular reports on trading performance, market trends and financial results to senior management and the board.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting and operations teams and lead the treasury team to meet departmental goals.
• Leverage treasury management systems and emerging technologies to enhance cash management and financial analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; master’s degree or certifications such as ACI Diploma, CTP, CFA preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience trading across multiple asset classes.
• Strong knowledge of treasury operations, financial markets and risk management.
• Proven track record in structuring deals, hedging and managing financial risk.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with the African market.
