Hostess - Tapasake Restaurant

About the role

One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius is hiring a hostess for its Tapasake restaurant. The hostess represents the service and hospitality of the restaurant's staff: while guests wait to be seated or for take-out orders, she keeps them comfortable and informed about order status and wait times, suggests aperitifs, collects feedback and forwards guest preferences to the relevant departments.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule dining reservations, arrange parties and special services, and coordinate dining room personnel for fast, courteous service.
• Greet guests, escort them to tables, provide menus, adjust complaints and monitor the waiting list and empty tables.
• Prepare beverages, expedite food orders, take initial drink orders and upsell beach dinners and cross-sell other outlets.
• Inspect serving stations for cleanliness, supply tables and stations, and keep kids' games, drawing materials, menu posters, umbrellas, reading lights and shawls in agreed stock.
• Total receipts at the end of the shift, collect payments and clear the cash register.
• Answer the telephone, book reservations, move tables for large parties and update the dining room occupancy chart.

Required profile

• No previous restaurant experience required.
• Fluent reading and writing in English and French; a third language is a plus.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions and to estimate wait times using basic assessment and math skills.
